As UPN Adopts Alao-Akala as Governorship Candidate

The Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) on Saturday announced its adoption of the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala.

The party said, “today, we shall jointly and corporately move in that singular, particular direction to give our support and votes for a gubernatorial candidate of our choice among other parties in Oyo State; we know those that do not deserve our votes.”

Speaking at the programme held at the state secretariat of the party, Sango, Ibadan, the party’s National Legal Adviser, Niyi Ajewole, noted that “though, most of the other states have UPN governorship candidates, our great party, UPN, Oyo State, today, adopts Chief Christopher Alao-Akala of the Labour Party as our gubernatorial candidate. The entire members of the UPN, Oyo State, shall give him support and votes”.

A top member of the LP gubernatorial campaign organisation, Olumuyiwa Makinde, who represented Akala on the occasion described the adoption of his principal as a morale booster to the camp and said the UPN in the state would not regret the bold step taken.

The Secretary of Akala-Alli Youth Organizations Involvement Committee, comrade YSO Olaniyi in a brief interview  opined that ''this latest development is an indication that Akala is the candidate to beat in the election.

"The movement called Akala - Alli is poised to banish poverty; banish hunger; banish unemployment; restore healthy living; promote functional education; and enhance communal peace and progress." Said Comrade YSO Olaniyi.
